Why microstates?

The existence of several successful microstates within Europe has given credence to the notion that small countries with limited governments work.

Microstates are well situated to protect the fundamental rights of citizens and provide a better regulatory environment for entrepreneurs.

The city, autonomous territory, and former British colony of Hong Kong is an example of a Microstate

In the wake of economic turmoil on the European continent, now is the opportune moment to explore the significant advantages microstates can bring for securing free and competitive societies, much like the Greek city states did in previous centuries.

European Students For Liberty

Empowering the next generation of leaders for liberty

Rather than further centralizing government, what if we look to microstates for answers?

For that purpose, European Students For Liberty organizes a Microstate Conference on the Greek Island of Crete in the city of Chania.

ESFL supports pro-liberty student groups by helping to provide resources, advising students on effective leadership strategies, and connecting students from across Europe with both like-minded peers and important leaders and organizations in the pro-liberty movement. ESFL’s activities help students generate the skills, momentum, and connections necessary to effectively advance the pro-liberty movement within Europe and abroad.
